Software Auto ID'er for Ham Radio

Auto IDer

This project came about because I had a desire to be lazy and not watch the clock while I chatted away with my buddies on 10 meters at night. We would often wonder if we had sent our ID out on time. Many long nights were filled with needless repeated ID's being sent out well before the time was expired.

Knowing that we had computer to radio interfaces already in place for PSK31, SSTV, and the other great digital modes, I figured I'd embark on the journey to write a small windows based software to ID the radio in morse code using the sound card interfaces that we had.

There has been a great learning curve going from Visual Basics 5 over to C# . This has also led to some interesting complications for the end users who wish to have the program as well. If you want to run the software you have to install the .NET framework along with it. Sure it may seem like a way to bloat the installation but at the same time you can't use any .net software without its framework. This also keeps you from missing the associated files that are .dll's for some of the needed includes such as Microsoft.DirectX and others.

This file is available from the Public Uploads section of the site.

You can install direct from the site: Auto IDer  web install    (this guarantees you get the latest version.)

Auto Ider.rar    You can use WinRAR or most unzipping utilities for this file or you can also just go to the public uploads area and download the folder with all the files unzipped already.

I'd be happy to hear any suggestions that you might have to include in the software.

Known Issue: Ten Tec Jupiter requires the radio be placed into data mode to use ACC1. This can be overcome by using the microphone type of interface. *****If anyone has the command data list for Rig control via the DB9 please send the information to me! *****

Version 1.1.017-24 updates: Nov - 2009

Added icon for windows systems.
Corrected issue with load where auto id checkbox was checked but ID timer was not started. Program will now load and the checkbox must be checked before timer will start. This is to prevent ID when user has previously chosen auto ID, but has restarted the program. The purpose is to ensure that the end user is aware that the ID is active.

Version 2.1.0.16 updates: Nov - 2009

Added support for both RST and DTR keying. The software will now use both to key the transmitter. Later support will be added to choose between the two options.

Version 2.1.0.9 updates:

This update allows for auto update check when loading the program. If you wish to revert back to a previous version it is available under the uninstall feature in the control panel.

Included in this update is the ability of the program to remember your input settings. This keeps you from having to enter your call each time you run the program. The software is available online or offline so you don't need an internet connection for the program to run. I will be updating this software on a regular basis to improve functionality and user requested features.

Version 2.1 updates:

Code Speed adjustment from 13- 25 wpm using a slider
User Selectable time delay between Id intervals
You can now change the pitch the CW is sent at in Hz
Method for sine wave playback changed to reduce or eliminate popping from some soundcards.

This software is free and comes without any warranty or guarantee. The source is available by contacting KG4KGW.

I am actively seeking feedback and suggestions for includes or alterations to the software.

A computer to radio interface is required using DTR from the computers COM port and output from the soundcard. If your equipment does not have a data jack you will need to use the volume from the computer to control the modulation output from the program. It is highly recommended that you research software such as Digipan by Peter Martinez and the interfaces that are used. A similar interface with ample isolation is always a good idea.

If you wish to donate to development of this software Please contact the Author. Any donations will be used for advancement of the software and the Elevated Wire Radio Group.
